ENNIS, Joy Celia Gumm, 67, of Chesterfield, Virginia, died April 27, 2008 of complications due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Born on September 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Gumm and Gwendolyn Ramsay Gumm of Hull, Quebec. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Ennis; and her son, Sean M. Ennis. She is survived by her children, Roni Pitt (Edward) of Chesterfield, Va. and R. J. Ennis (Susan) of Pace, Fla. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sean Patrick, Michael Andrew and Erin Elizabeth. Mrs. Ennis graduated from Ottawa Teachers College in 1959, and taught at Manor Park Elementary School before emigrating to the U.S. in 1963. A homemaker for many years, she re-entered the workforce in the child care field for the Dearborn Public Schools and then Children's World Learning Centers until her retirement in 2006. Cremation, with interment to follow, in Capital Memorial Gardens, Nepean, Ontario.
