Hi Gloria
Regarding your message on the "Steen" family. The family I am researching, the "McKibbon"s, married into the Steen family in the early 1800's. James Steen married Roseanne McKibbon and came to Canada in 1822 with his sister Catharine Steen who married Roseanne McKibbon's brother William McKibbon. As well John Steen, brother to James and Catharine came as a single man. They settled in Pakanham Ontario in 1823. James and Roseanne moved north of Pakenham and set up a flour mill. I am repeating this from memory now and I don't want to give you information that is not correct.
The McKibbon's gave their address in Ireland as Cavan in Cavan County and it seemed to me the Steen family did as well. I have been able to find a McKibbon family reference in Cavan, but no Steens, although there seems to be many Steens who lived in Monagahan. I was interested to see that your John Steen married a woman from Co. Cavan that would have been born about the same time as William McKibbon. An excellent source of information is the Ontario Census for the Pakenham area. If you will send me your mailing address I can send you what information I have on the Steens in Canada. I have been in contact with Sylvianne and it seems we are slowly making connections between the families. I hope to hear from you. Carol
