JOSEPH GIBBONS (1961) - The death occurred at his residence, Wilkinson Street , Almonte, of Joseph Gibbons on Friday, March 31st., beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Campbell in his 82nd year. The funeral took place from the Comba Funeral Home on Monday, April 3rd at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Auld Kirk cemetery. Rev. R. M. Strachan of Pembroke conducted the burial service. He was the eldest son of the late Alex Gibbons and his wife, Delina Steen. Left to mourn his loss are his sisters, Maggie, Mrs. Wm. McCallum; Hannah, Mrs. Eddie Gilmour; Jennie, Mrs. Roy Wood; of Fordville, N. D.; one brother, Ira, at home. Annie, Mrs. Pete Morris, predeceased him, also Roy . The late Mr. Gibbons was very well liked by all and the flowers and sympathy extended showed the esteem in which he was held. The pallbearers were Joseph Brook, Phil Needham, Wilmer Illingworth and Bert Simpson, all of Almonte and Des Wolfe of Pembroke and Gordon Shultz of Westmeath. He was a scaler in Northern Ontario lumber camps before coming to Almonte in 1929.
