The (Helena, Montana) Independent Record, September 24, 1945 - FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. DODGE WILL BE TUESDAY - Pioneer Woman dies Sunday following lingering illness Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie E. Dodge, 78 year old Montana pioneer, who came to Helena by stagecoach when an infant, will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Opp and Conrad chapel. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Mrs. Dodge died Sunday morning at St. Peter's hospital, following a lingering illness. She was the daughter of the late Joshua C. Ricker, owner of the rich Whitlatch mine at Unionville, and had resided at Helena for many years. Her husband, the late Dr. Charles G. Dodge, died in 1921. They were married in Manchester, N.H. in 1884. Mrs. Dodge was born October 18, 1866 in Lawrence, Kan. She was a member of the Montana Pioneers. In recent years Mrs. Dodge made her home with her sister, Mrs. June Ide, 39 South Rodney. In addition to her sister, Mrs. Ide, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. Allie Freeman of East Helena; three nieces, Mrs. David Gans, 402 Dearborn, Mrs. A.L. Brayman of East Helena and Mrs. C.A. Whipple, Jr., Stockton, Calif. and three nephews, Jack W. Ricker, 649 Dearborn, Brooke Ricker, Camp Carson, Colo. and O.R. Freeman, Boston, Mass. A brother, Jess C. Ricker, died a number of years ago. |
